7 June 2003 - Power Outage @ GlobalCenter
There was a power failure in the local Power Grid
maintained by the electricity provider CitiPower in the South Melbourne
area at 9:25pm on 6 June 2003.
Representatives of CitiPower claim this outage was
due to the recent severe weather conditions experienced in Melbourne.
Mr. Stephen Green, GlobalCenter's Internet Data
Centre Manager stated "that the IDC's power automatically switched
to generator with no effect on clients located in its IDC. This
outage lasted approx 10 minutes".
A fault ticket was created to log this event with
no further action required after power was re-instated and systems
operated, as required.
A check around the IDC by GlobalCenter 7 x 24 hour
staff during and after the failure found the UPS and generator systems
operated without hesitation and in accordance with procedures set
for such an occurrence.
"This is a tribute to the well maintained systems
operated by GlobalCenter", Stephen Green stated.
